InCIAM-ISSCI Summer School & Conference

The InCIAM-ISSCI International Summer School & Conference is a multidisciplinary event dedicated to advancing creativity research and fostering international collaboration. Organized by the Institute on Creativity and Innovations of Aix-Marseille (InCIAM) in partnership with the International Society for the Study of Creativity and Innovation (ISSCI)

From June 2 to 6, 2025, the Institute on Creativity and Innovations of Aix-Marseille (InCIAM) and ISSCI organized the 1st international summer school & conference entitled “Multidisciplinary exploration of creativity: Understanding creative processes for research innovations,” offering five days of lectures, workshops, and discussions on creativity in various fields (including several areas of psychology and education sciences).

This summer school & conference brought together international speakers, doctoral and post-doctoral students, and researchers from 9 different countries (France, Italy, the United States, Brazil, Spain, Japan, Thailand, Algeria, and the United Kingdom).

This scientific event hosted 48 participants consisting of PhD students (19), postdoctoral researchers (3), master or post-master’s students (8), and researchers (18), who shared their research and practices from interdisciplinary perspectives and with a view to enriching their work.

Throughout the week, PhD and Master’s students worked in small groups on innovative projects related to creativity, supervised by experienced researchers.

The two best projects (joint winners) received the ISSCI Prize, worth €800 each:

  • Project 1: “To what extent does the complexity of a crossword affect divergent thinking?”, a research project to study the link between game complexity and divergent thinking
  • Project 2: “What if the future of innovation starts with a game?”, a research project exploring the influence of crossword puzzles on specific aspects of creativity in children.

We hope that these projects, presented during this first summer school, will be developed further and contribute to research on creativity.
